"Blowback"

I must say, when Dr Paul spoke out in the S.C debates and Giuliani attacked him, I was literally scared out of my pants (well, not quite literally). Scared, because here was the only one candidate out of ten, who was willing to speak out against our foreign policy (which I have experienced first hand in the military), and he got jumped on by Giuliani, the audience, and many of the commentators. There were suggestions that he shouldn't even be in the debates. It was so scary, because in the meantime the other candidates were advocating torture, expanding Guantanamo Bay so that no one would have access to lawyers, wanting to call in Jack Bauer of "24", pushing again for a tamper proof ID card with biometrics, etc, etc. Ron Paul was the lone voice of freedom - were would this debate have been without him? We are really in a fight for our freedom in this election.

After the dust settled on the next day, I stared to realize what a great opportunity this was for Dr Paul. The news was all over him on the night of the debate. Giuliani's attack was clearly a sign of desperation, since he was getting hammered on conservative issues. In the post debate interview, Dr Paul suggested, with a smile, that he debate Giuliani on foreign policy. If you think that is a good idea, then go here. Then today, he got interviewed on CNN by Wolf Blitzer, and did a fantastic job. He highlighted the fact that Giuliani clearly had not read the 9/11 report, since the assertions that Dr. Paul made were in that document! He refused to apologize, and stated that Giuliani was going to have to back down, and that he should read the report. And people seem to understand. Here's a great article.

"Rudy Giuliani has tip-toed around the issues of abortion, guns and marriage. The only issue he has left is security, and he doesn't even get that right," said campaign chairman Kent Snyder. "It is clear from his interruption that former Mayor Giuliani has not read the 9-11 Commission Report and has no clue on how to keep America safe."

As Ghandi said; "First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win." Well, I think we are at stage two or three - pretty good for being only at the second debate. I'm so impressed with Dr Paul's courage.

I felt the same exact way.
I went to bed disgusted knowing he said the right things and spoke the truth, but that his campaign was probably over since he provided some soundbytes that could be used against him.
What a fool I was. I should have had more faith in the man. Amazing courage.

Very depressing seeing how the media is shunning him.

I had a similar experience. I thought ... unfriendly territory, he defended himself well, we will survive to fight another day.

But the moment I saw him with Alan Colmes inviting Giuliani to a debate on foreign policy it clicked. A friend said during the debate that he should kiss Rudy. I diodn't get it at the time but I do now.

I too felt it. The mix of elation at the truth of his message, and the teriible fear of how it would destroy the campaign. I couldn't sleep that night, thinking it was all finished.

Then I said screw it and donated another $500 to his campaign.

And now I just found this clip from The View:

I'm an atheist, so I hope the following has all the more impact...
Godspeed Dr. Paul, Godspeed.

Happy to see I wasn't alone.
I think it's pathetic when we true Americans aren't used to hearing our politicians speak the truth about worldly matters. There's no reason on this EARTH why hearing simple statements like his that night should have kept us up at night. It's really quite horrible to think of an America where we THINK the truth, but when we HEAR it, it makes us nervous.

Long Live Ron Paul. He came at JUST the right time for me. I had dismissed both parties as being the same party (which they are).
I NEVER thought I'd feel this way about a U.S. Congressman.

Go Ron Pual. Since when is it unpatriotic to be critical of the government? I thought conservatives were supposed to distrust government? Has the Party of Reagan become the Party of Orwell?
